Dungeon crawling is simply a matter of tracing a single path through each floor, but it’s not as simple as all that! We crammed every inch of the game’s 5x5 grid-based roguelike dungeons with variety!
But, truth be told, Dandy Dungeon’s simplistic exterior belies a game with many hidden depths. Winning or losing is all down to the player. You’ll need to know all about the magic-reflecting Magic Barrier, the inescapable wrath of Thunderall, the all-powerful draw of the Magnet, the penetrating attack of the spear, the all-powerful blow of the axe and the like in order to conquer the game’s dungeons.

Yamada’s world is full of weird and wonderful sounds, from the start of a dungeon, the discovery of a danger zone, levelling up and Yamada’s mysterious shouts of ‘Arabesque!’.

The comic-prince of chiptunes, Keichi Sugiyama joins forces with Enka BOSSA’s founder and singer, Caorinho Fujiwara to create an audio experience you won’t find elsewhere! And mystery singer Nagasa Bonus, whose smooth voice flows over the chiptunes of the English version’s theme song: ”Retrograde life”.

36 year old Yamada-kun is a programmer at a major games company who hates his job. Deep into every night, alone in his apartment, he works on his own game: a delusional dungeon delving RPG where he is the hero; Brave Yamada!
Then, one day, he falls in love at first sight with his new neighbor Maria-chan and in an effort to nurture these feelings, adds Princess Maria into his delusional dungeon game!

전설적인 PS1의 안티 RPG 'moon'*의 개발진이었던 러브델릭의 해산 이후, (*원래 일본에서만 발매되어 접할 기회가 없었습니다만, 스위치로 이식되며 영어 번역이 추가된다 해서 기대중입니다.) 기존 개발진들이 Onion Games로 다시 모여 만든 로그라이크 RPG 게임입니다. 야마다씨 (36세) 가 게임회사에서 해고되면서, 본인이 그동안 만들고 싶었던 게임을 만들게 되고, 플레이어는 그 게임의 디버깅 (이라 하고 본 게임이라 읽는) 을 도우면서 옆집 아가씨와 맺어지는 것도 도와주면 됩니다. (왠지 제작진 본인들 이야기 같기도 합니다.) 기본적으로 5x5칸짜리 던전에서 한 획으로 출구까지 선을 그어놓으면 (상대적으로 마우스 조작이 편합니다.) 이동/공격은 그 경로를 따라 자동으로 이루어지고, 중간에 아이템을 써주는 것은 플레이어의 몫입니다. 던전 진입 전에는 적들의 상성을 고려해 소모성 아이템과 장비 세트를 잘 맞춰야하고, 던전 진입 후에는 최대한 모든 칸을 지나게 경로를 짜면서 아이템을 제때 써주는 게 핵심입니다. 원래 iOS에서 부분유료화로 발매된 게임이었지만, 서비스를 종료한 이후 스위치와 PC로 재발매된 게임입니다. 따라서 스마트폰 게임의 잔재가 많이 남아있습니다. (물론 과금은 없습니다.) 부활 아이템, 대리 탐사, 스페셜 던전, 그리고 계속되는 장비 강화 등등... 이 버전에서는 스태미나 제한이 사라지면서 원하는 대로 파밍을 할 수 있습니다. 이외에도 귀염뽀짝한 도트 그래픽, 듣다 보면 중독되는 입브금, 매우 확실한 등장인물들의 개성 및 찰진 영어 번역으로 오래오래 붙잡고 즐길 수 있을 캐주얼한 로그라이크 게임이 되었습니다. (정확히는 랜덤 요소가 맵 랜덤 밖에 없어서 '로그라이트'지만요.) 2020년 4월 업데이트로 게임 분량이 2배 가까이 늘어나는 무료 컨텐츠 업데이트도 적용되어 있어서 금상첨화. 결론은 엄청 중독성있고 잘 만든 게임입니다.
