충분한 가능성과 좋은 기획을 가지고 있었음에도 게임으로 변하는 개발 과정 속에서 안타까운 점이 많이 생긴 것으로 보인 작품입니다. 정확한 게임 메시지와 무엇을 게이머들에게 보여줄 것인가에 관하여 진지한 성찰이 부족했던 것일지 모릅니다. 만약 이 게임이 This is the Police나 Papers, Please의 일부분이라도 차용했으면 더 좋았을 겁니다. 페레스트로이카 직전의 사회주의 체제의 심각한 모순을 보여줘야 했을지도 모릅니다. 아니면 차라리 공산주의 정권의 몰락은 서방세계의 사보타주 때문이었다고 주장하는 내용이 될 수도, 1984와 같은 전체주의에서 집단에 의해 개인이 어떻게 몰락하는지 조명할 수도 있었습니다. 하지만 이 게임에서는 세계관은 열심히 만들고 끝내... 별 위기가 없는 심심한 사회주의 국가의 시장 시뮬레이터가 되어 버렸습니다. 캐릭터들은 진부적이며 실제 주인공이 겪는 일들은 상상을 초월할 정도로 따분하며 시장에게 올라오는 청원 내용은 이웃 소음, 새집 만들기, 동네 청소년 지도 같은, 실제 소련 붕괴 직전의 상황과는 전혀 딴 판의 일이 벌어져서 사실 전혀 위기감도 중압감도 크게 느낄 수 없습니다. 물론 모든 게임이 막 거창하고 심각하기만 해야 한다는 건 아닙니다. Beat Cop처럼 가볍고 여유로운 게임 상태에서도 좋은 게임을 만들 수 있습니다. 차라리 코미디 느낌을 잔뜩 넣었다면 좋았을지도요? 여러모로 안타깝고, 열심히 노력한 것이 별 수확 없이 흐지부지 되어 버린 게임 같습니다. 혹시 이 게임을 구매하시겠다면 공략없이 해피엔딩을 꼭 노려 보세요. 몇가지 위기와 퍼즐, 분기 조건이 나오기 때문에 항상 느긋하게 할 수는 없는 게임입니다. 독해 실력도 체크할 좋은 기회가 될 것입니다!
