Story

After spending many years of training, under the leadership of his guardian Peresvet, the young man Philip returns to his hometown of Turov. He dreams of entering the service of the prince there, becoming one of his vigilantes, and being known as the mighty Brave. But once in his native places, Philip finds a depressing picture: the principality has lost its former greatness, the people are seized with fear, and pagans have settled in the forests, offering prayers to the ancient, long-forgotten Deity and making human sacrifices.
