OVERVIEW
Space Rats is a family-friendly, combat racing platformer where cute, sci-fi animals compete on dynamic, enclosed courses with variable gravity. Players race in dynamic enclosed courses with the ability to run on any interior surface (up, down, and all around) while utilizing gravity to their competitive advantage. The gravity in Space Rats radiates out from the Artifical Gravity Line (AGL) in all directions. The further a player gets from the AGL, the heavier gravity becomes. But if they are near or in the center of the AGL, they will soar in Zero-G!
MULTIPLAYER COMPETITION
Race against friends or strangers online! Space Rats can be enjoyed by both casual and competitive gamers thanks to our matchmaking system that ensures you race against players of similar skill level. Climb your way up through the ranks and leaderboards of the Artificial Gravity Racing Organization (A.G.R.O. for short)!
ARTIFICIAL/VARIABLE GRAVITY
The gravity system in Space Rats is unique because it is based on the concept of centripetal force. The race courses are all housed within long, cylindrical space stations that rotate around a central axis of rotation. Because of the rotation, ‘gravity’ flows out from the center of the course in every direction. This means that no matter where a character stands inside the course, they can always look “up” and see the center of the course, represented by a glowing Artificial Gravity Line (or A.G.L. for short).
Within the AGL, characters will experience zero gravity. But the farther they get from the AGL, the heavier ‘gravity’ will become. In other words, characters can experience 0 - 3 Gs depending on how far they are from the AGL at any given moment.
CHARACTER CLASSES
Unlike traditional racing games with vehicles, the racers in Space Rats run on two (or four) legs. That means they can jump, do parkour, and fly around with jet packs. Different animals have different strengths and weaknesses because of their innate, class-based abilities.
Toda (crawler class): Toda is the fastest runner in the game. What’s more, he can stick to and run on some surfaces that other characters cannot. Because he is such a fast runner, his jumping and thruster abilities are not as developed as some other characters’.
Hopper (leaper class): Just as the name implies, Hopper is strongest while jumping. Her powerful legs grant her a speed boost whenever she jumps, and while her thruster may not have much fuel, it grants her a powerful blast forward if used while airborne.
G-Rat (thruster class): G-Rat is by far the slowest runner and weakest jumper in the game. But what he lacks in muscle, he more than makes up with his powerful jetpack. Take to the skies and use zero-g to your advantage!
POWERUPS
In Space Rats, racers do battle with one another while racing to the finish line. The league isn’t called the A.G.R.O. for nothing!
Gravity Well: aim and fire this powerup to freeze your opponents in space with an expansive field of sustained heavy gravity.
Sentient Goo: just pull the trigger and let the goo do the rest! The sentient goo powerup will chase down the nearest opponent in front of you and significantly slow their movement.
Boost Boots: activate this powerup to run at top speed. Be careful not to SPLAT!
Dark Matter: you’re untouchable…and fast! Get a speed boost and knock your opponents to the side as you are enveloped in a sphere of dark matter.
