The Indian locomotive class WAP-7 is a class of 25 kV AC electric locomotives that was developed in 1999 by Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) for Indian Railways. It started service in 2000. The WAP-7 is the most Powerful passenger locomotives of Indian Railways. It has output of 6350 hp (4,740 kW) capable of hauling 24 coaches. Locomotives has a top speed of 180 KM/PH. This locomotive has a feature of Head on Generation (HOG) which eliminates the need of separate EOG set for power supply. The WAP-7 Locomotive is one of the most successful locomotives of Indian Railways.
