As you progress through the ranks of Venetian society, increasing your power with smart trading moves and calling in the occasional favour you can begin to assemble your own fleet. With this you will start to build up new production facilities, test yourself in challenging sea battles where you will face off against pirates as well as political enemies to finally become the Doge of Venice.

포트로얄 시리즈와 비슷합니다. 다만 항구내부 진입이 따로 없고 대부분의 기능을 전체지도에서 운용할 수 있도록 인터페이스가 갖추어져 있습니다. 싱글플레이는 하나의 캠페인 밖에 없으며 캠페인의 수준과 난이도도 포트로얄 시리즈와 비슷합니다.(훌륭하지도 않고 그렇다고 욕할 정도로 나쁘진 않은 그냥 조금 아쉬운 수준) 즉, 게임을 샀을 때 혼자하면 즐길거라고는 하나의 짧지는 않은 캠페인과 프리맵플레이, 그리고 리더보드 랭킹을 겨루는 몇가지 챌린지 유형의 게임모드가 다입니다. 그런데도 이러한 가격이 책정되어 있는 이유는 멀티플레이 지원 때문입니다. 앞서 말한 인터페이스도 모두 멀티플레이를 위해 최적화 되어 있다고 보면 됩니다. 다만 멀티플레이는 같이 할 친구가 없으면 99% 해볼 수 없습니다. 도전과제도 20% 가량이 멀티플레이와 관련되어 있죠.. 필자는 아쉽게도 해보지 못했습니다. 자동매칭 백날 돌려봐야 매칭이 되지 않더군요. 결국 현재 책정된 가격은 다소 비싸다는 느낌이 듭니다. 다음은 확장팩 설명입니다. 프리플레이를 할 때 기존 지도보다 50% 정도 확장되어 있는 맵을 플레이 할 수 있습니다. 그리고 가문 미션이 추가되었습니다. 배가 한종 정도 추가되었고, 투표로 총독이 되었을 시 최종적으로 제노바 동맹항을 베니스로 끌어들일 수 있거나 혹은 지킬 수 있는 순차적 과제가 추가되었습니다. 그외 피드백으로 소소한 수정이 있었던 것 같습니다. 일단 저는 추천합니다. 이유는 처음에 현재가격 보다 더 비싸게 팔았고, 그때 제값 다 주고 산 사람에게 확장팩 나오면서 무료로 제공한 것에 흡족했습니다. 다만 오리지날은 한국어가 지원언어이나 확장팩은 아니였습니다. 그래서 인터페이스를 제외하면 확장팩은 부분부분 번역되어 있었습니다만, 장기간에 걸쳐서 결국 대부분 한글화 시켜놓았습니다. 이런 노력이 마음에 들더군요. 포트로얄 시리즈에서 조금이라도 재미를 느끼셨던 분이라면 해볼만 합니다. 무엇보다도 한글화가 되어 있어 한국인 유저가 접근하기도 쉽습니다. 다만 가급적이면 할인할 때 고려해보시길 바랍니다.
