- Hold out against increasingly difficult and varied waves of enemies
- Find rare and powerful artifacts
- Balance gathering resources with building up your defenses
- Use gathered resources brought back from the fortresses to upgrade your central outpost, giving you persistent upgrades and expanded options with future fortresses
