“Mahokenshi - The Designer's Guide” The DLC pack has a handful of challenging maps functioning as a guide to show off the potential and the possibilities of the Mission Editor, helping creators to get started.

The pack consists of multiple maps that after downloading will directly show up in your in-game custom mission folder. From here on out you can learn about the possibilities, or even shape it into your own custom-made adventure. You can get as creative as you wish one hex at a time, placing hordes of enemies, setting objectives, creating quests with rewards, and more.

The Celestial Islands are now in your hands!

Map 1: Defeat The Armored Oni – The missions showcases all the basic
ingredients needed to create a good mission in Mahokenshi. Be sure to explore
the different events to gather additional tips on the mission editor!

Map 2: Run! – In Mahokenshi, it’s important to set a time limit on missions. This
helps to establish a good pace and encourages strategic decision-making. There
are many ways to implement a time limit. In this example, several enemies have
been edited to have a “Tracking” behavior. They are constantly pursuing the
player, forcing them to make quick decisions.

Map 3: The Oni Archipelago – Some Victory and Defeat conditions need a
target value to be set up along with “Markers”. First, use the brush tool next to
the victory or defeat condition to place markers, and then set the desired target
value. It’s important to note that the target value may not necessarily match the
number of markers used. For instance, in this mission, your objective is to defeat
Onis, but you may not have to defeat all of them.

Map 4: Protect The Villages – Some special enemy behaviors unlock for
specific defeat conditions. In this example, all enemies are set to attack the
villages. It’s worth noting that enemies spawned from pits can also be assigned
this behavior.

Map 5: Defend The Island – This mission demonstrates the ‘Reach Any Tile’
defeat condition. For such missions timing is crucial, and it’s better to build up
pressure gradually. If you select any enemy or pit, you’ll notice that there’s a
specific AI behavior designed for this type of mission.
