You're about to experience the demo version of Chronicles of Vaeltaja: In Search of the Great Wanderer, an old-school inspired role-playing game. This is a representation of a work in progress, therefore some graphics, assets and gameplay features may change for the full game. This demo gives you an opportunity to explore one of the overworld areas, called The Great Forest, which has northern and southern parts. There you can explore the surroundings to find secrets and treasures that are placed specially for this demo. There is also some side-quest content that will differ from the full version. You can also gain access to one of the optional dungeons, The Old Tower, and the demo ends as soon as that dungeon is completed, but until that you are free to explore the secrets of The Great Forest. Some of the areas and mechanics have been removed from this demo, such as stealing, as they have no purpose here.

In the starting area talk to the merchant for detailed information about the gameplay. Chronicles of Vaeltaja: In Search of the Great Wanderer contains lots of mechanics, so balancing your skills and stats for each classes and characters is key to success. For example you won't get far by spending all the stat and skill points to 'strength' and weapon skills, as then your character is unable to wear better armor and has low defense. There is no hand-holding, so don't expect quest markers, automatic journal or some of the other 'quality of life' improvements found in modern games. Movement is grid-based, like in many of the classic RPGs from 1980's and 1990's.

Be aware, that only one resolution is used: 1080p

There are some known issues:

1. There happens some stutter occasionally, when the game loads cells that it has divided levels into, but optimization will be done for the final release.

2. In Stat&Skills menu when spending points, arrows that allow to increase or decrease skill value don’t align properly. Changing to different character can help the issue little bit, but it won’t fix it. I’ve been looking into it, but haven’t found a solution yet.

3. Sometimes enemy hit boxes doesn’t register mouse cursor properly, so it’s adviseable to choose enemies with keyboard.

4. Because of the unorthodox camera settings to achieve proper gameplay feel, interacting with the gameworld using keyboard may cause a certain issue: You may be facing a door or treasure chest, but SPACE doesn’t activate it. In this case press W and then SPACE.
