To Build a Home is a 2D life simulation game. Inspired in equal parts in The Sims and Dwarf Fortress, the simplified graphics hide a complex AI and deep interactions between characters and objects, the perfect environment for rich emergent behaviour.

To Build a Home is a 2D life simulation game. Inspired by life simulators like The Sims and roguelite colony management games like Dwarf Fortress, it is a deep simulation of human life.

Rent a house, build a home

Move into a new house, with all your belongings in boxes, and a ticking clock until the day the rent is due. Real life has its quests too!

A smart AI, but it needs your help

Your characters can survive on their own, making informed decisions depending on their surroundings thanks to their Hierarchical Task Network powered brains. But still, they are not very good at it. They may focus on their duties without taking care of their mood, or leave their duties aside while they search instant gratification. Only you, the player, can bring balance to their lives.

Data driven, easy to mod

All aspects of the game that can be represented by raw text files have been. Object definitions, shop inventories, character bodies... This means that players can easily change the behaviour of the parts of the game they don't like, or create new objects with nothing more than Paint and Notepad.
