Who is the Outsider?

Outsider is a science fiction narrative game with meaningful choices. You'll join my childhood friend Nando in his online encounters with a woman claiming to be an extraterrestrial. This game is a faithful recreation of their conversations based on the detailed records he left me before disappearing over a decade ago.

Outsider is a choice-rich game where you will play as Nando's "inner voice", helping him navigate the experience of meeting someone claiming to be from an advanced civilization.

The game's main play area is a fully-featured simulated chat interface. Your first job will be to help Nando figure out whether "Mara" is who she claims to be. How could an extraterrestrial prove their origin through a chat interface?

Outsider doesn't interrupt conversations with long and indistinguishable options. All choices are labeled with emojis that indicate the answer's tone and likely impact. Consequences flow naturally and won't unexpectedly lock you out of important content.

Some choices enable you to skip parts of the story and make progress while not missing anything important. You will use them to pace the game and focus on topics that interest you without affecting the game's endings. A plethora of reading options, such as multiple fonts (including a special Dyslexia-friendly font), adjustable text speed and fast-forward will help you explore all branches without getting bogged down by what you've already read.

Nando has unexplained dreams throughout Outsider. Are they telling him anything? Crack an optional and challenging metapuzzle and help him peel hidden layers from the narrative. Solving the puzzle is a reward in itself, but you can save it for later if you want.
