OUTSIDE - Tunes for Adventure

Outside, there's all kinds of music. From birds, to passing train cars —to some old guy spitting. Not here, OUTSIDE has it's own set of tracks perfect for what is has to offer.

Enjoy these chiptune sounds that are reminiscent of old [REDACTED] games!

About the Soundtrack

The soundtrack (along with the rest of the game) was created in late 2021.

The musical and sometimes ominous tunes were composed alongside the creation of the levels. Oftentimes, an Idea would come out of nowhere (my subconscious) and find its way into the overall game world.

The track Radiation for example, came about after doodling some deformed versions of the main character. After some playful world building, I thought helping this motley crew of monsters would be a fun side mission after acquiring some sort of hazmat suit... 

World - Having the main walking theme be a slow crescendo of simple tones seemed obvious as to not distract or annoy the player during their adventure. Its whistle-like melody in the background carries a safe and relaxing lullaby.

Church is important, and this Crab Canon is special because it is a live recording using a virtual instrument!

Pirates - This Sea Shanty is the Second favorite of all the tracks. When looking for an iconic theme for the silly pirates, I looked at a classic browser game for inspiration. The original project folder for the game was even called RuneQuest!

End - The favorite of all the tracks for its unique opening and meaning. The hopeful bow that ties everything together. A great tune to say goodbye for now.
