Forget shooting from across the room. Rogue Melee is a fast-paced action roguelike, where every kill happens at sword's length. Dodge-roll and slash through the Dungeon down to Hell, loot lots of different weapons and even more run-changing items, rescue captured heroes and face the Devil himself.

Melee that feels like melee

Every swing is a real arc of steel that follows your aim and cuts through everything in its path. Crits hit harder, knock enemies back further and send the damage numbers flying.

• Dodge-roll through danger: blades, arrows and fireballs pass right through you mid-roll.

• Read the wind-up: enemy attacks are telegraphed. Learn them, dodge them, punish them.

• Use the room: spike traps and bombs hurt monsters too, so knock enemies into them.

Every weapon hits differently

You start with a wooden sword and trade up as you go deeper. Choose from countless different weapons, each with its own damage, speed and crit profile: quick daggers, cutlasses that make you faster, hammers built for crits, heavy axes, maces, greatswords and spiked clubs. Rare finds change the fight: the Flame Sword sets enemies ablaze, the Ice Axe slows them to a crawl and the Rainbow Sword fires a beam with every swing.

Beat the Orc Warchief and his sword is yours to take... if you're strong enough to lift it.

Items that change how you fight

Countless items are hidden in chests, shops, secret rooms and behind crates. They do more than make numbers bigger, a few examples:

• Blazing Roll: your dodge roll sets enemies on fire.

• King's Crown: at full health, every swing also fires a sword beam.

• Demon Fury: drop to half a heart and hit much harder.

• Ancient Scroll: your first hit on every enemy is a guaranteed crit.

• Golden Heart: cheat death once.

• Six Emblems: deal extra damage to beasts, demons, undead or burning foes, go berserk after every kill, or hurt whoever hits you.

Items also synergize in powerful ways with each other and weapons too! Wear the King's Crown while holding the Rainbow Sword and your beams start coming in pairs.

From the Dungeon down to Hell

Five floors: the Dungeon, the Deep Dungeon, the Caves, the Abyss and Hell, each with its own enemies, traps, music and loot. Every run shuffles hundreds of handcrafted rooms into a new layout, so every floor is fresh but never feels random.

Bomb walls to find secret rooms, spend your coins in the shop, use keys on locked chests, and climb the ladders to fast-travel between cleared rooms instead of backtracking.

Fight bosses, each with a twist

A Corrupted Ogre whose head rips open to shoot lasers. A Dark Mage who splits into mirror images, summons tornadoes and tears open the gate to Hell. And at the very bottom, the Devil himself.

Rescue new heroes

Not every adventurer made it out. Find them tied up in the depths, cut them loose and they join your roster, each with their own weapon, items and health:

• Deadeye: fast and fragile, with a cutlass and Running Shoes.

• Tolgrim: a sturdy dwarf with a mace, a Crit Rune and a stack of bombs.

• Lost: rescued from Hell, starts on half a heart with Demon Fury. The ultimate glass cannon.

• Zaelir: defeat the Devil to unlock a mage whose every swing also fires a projectile.

...and there's one more secret hero to find. Or you can also blow them up if that suits you more...
