나는 죽어도 내 라이브러리에 파랜드 사가를 장식해야겠다 는 나 같은 사고의 소유자가 아니면 하등 고려할 이유가 없는 물건. 일단 의외의 면모를 짚고 넘어가자면 컨트롤러 필수라고 되어 있는데 없어도 된다. 실행했을 때 컨트롤러 연결하라는 거 그냥 쌩까고 실행하면 처음에 키 매핑을 보여주는데 뜬금없이 키보드가 있는 거임. 아니 키마 지원 안 된다면서 키보드 매핑은 왜 있나 싶어서 키보드로 조작해보니 인식이 된다. 어쨌든 키보드만 있어도 플레이 자체는 가능한 상황. 스팀덱에서도 구동과 플레이에 문제 없다. 그리고 PC판과 비교하면 부가 기능이 제법 있다. 경험치 부스트 기능과 리와인드 기능이 대표적. 단순히 전투에서 이전 턴으로 돌아가거나 한 수 무르는 수준이 아니라 그냥 게임 진행 상황 자체를 거의 대사 한 컷, 행동 하나 단위로 이전으로 돌아갈 수 있게끔 해놓았다. 꾸역꾸역 그나마 괜찮은 점을 이야기하라면 딱 이 정도가 끝이다. 애초에 어려운 게임도 아니라서 저런 기능은 사실 쓸모라곤 없다. 게임 자체만 놓고 보면 이건 고려할 필요조차 없고 그냥 PC판을 하면 된다. 일단 PC판과 달리 한국어를 지원하지 않으며 위에서 키보드로도 플레이 가능하다고 하긴 했는데 SRPG에서 마우스의 편의성에 비하겠나. 심지어 굳이 이걸 사겠다 하는 사람들은 다 PC판 해 본 사람들일 거 아니야. 아예 처음이면 몰라, 기억이 있는데 버틸 수 있겠냐고. 내가 과연 따라갈 수 있을까? 커서가 없는 세상의 스피드를. 기본적으로 새턴판을 그냥 갖다가 옮긴 것에 불과하므로 비주얼이 비교가 안 된다. 스팀덱의 액정으로 봐도 이 자글자글한 화면을 어찌할 도리가 없다. 시작하면 중앙에 고전틱한 비율의 게임 화면이 놓이고 양 옆은 월페이퍼로 땜빵해놨는데 이 월페이퍼는 바꿀 수 있다. 그래봐야 가장 중요한 중앙이 잘려서 게임 중엔 보이지도 않지만. 게임 화면은 기본적으로 중앙에 있지만 왼쪽이나 오른쪽으로 옮길 수 있고, 꼴에 고해상도 옵션도 있다. 당연히 이 옵션 켜본들 태생을 벗어날 순 없다. 그나마 장점이 있다면 보이스의 존재인데 이것도 이미 보이스 패치가 존재해서 큰 의미는 없다. 그리고 세세한 볼륨 설정을 할 수 없어서 BGM에 보이스가 묻혀 잘 안 들린다. 이 작품의 강점인 BGM 역시 당연하게도 성의없는 이식판이기에 음반으로서의 가치조차 없다. 심지어 그 모양인 사운드트랙조차 따로 돈 주고 사야 하는 악독한 구성. 그렇다고 본편이 저렴한 것도 아니다. 그냥 딱 나 같은 사람 겨냥해서 만든 거다. 파랜드 사가라는 게임 자체는 분명 훌륭한 물건이고 이걸 2025년에 내줘서 장식할 수 있게 해준 건 고맙기도 하지만 대체재가 없는 것도 아니고 같은 내용물의 상위호환판이라 할 만한 물건이 버젓이 존재하고 있는 마당에 그렇다고 가격이라도 퀄리티에 맞는 적정한 수준으로 책정되었다고 보는 것도 어려워서 비추를 준다. 나오자마자 샀고 환불도 안 할 테니까 비추 정도는 줘도 되지?
