Mine ores, haul them back, and deposit them to afford upgrades: faster mining speed, increased mining strength, or even some additional emergency tools like explosives or rope.

Don’t forget the company quota. To descend deeper into the shells of rock, you must prove your worth to your creator by reaching quota. Fail, and you are forgotten. Succeed, and you receive a replenished corporate-issued tool, because only the best bots may continue digging.
