Deflection-based combat

The combat of False Princess Iruruu revolves around the risks and rewards of deflection. Guard right before an attack and you will deflect it, redirecting damage onto the enemies' poise. Guard too late or too early, and you risk taking damage to your poise and health.

Special Attacks & Counters

However, not everything can be deflected. Certain attacks require special responses. Hooks, grabs, shockwaves, and other forms of unique attacks have to be dealt with using specific moves and timing.

Choosing mercy

Combat encounters with foes can also end non-lethally. When an enemy's poise is broken, a sword attack will instantly kill them. However, deflecting an attack from an enemy in this vulnerable state will disarm them.

You may choose the path of mercy, but be aware that your enemies won't always return the favor.

A tale of ambition, corruption, and falsehoods

Set in 18th-century China, the story follows a nomad girl named Iruruu as she receives an urgent summons to become an imperial consort. Shortly into her journey, the imperial seal—her only mark of legitimacy—was stolen. Still determined to become an official consort, Iruruu journeys onward as she finds herself embroiled in a larger political conflict, a result of lasting tension from past wars and imperial decisions.
