낮/밤 시스템, 카운터스펠, 등대를 이용한 시간여행 등 전작에 비해 여러가지 요소가 많이 추가된 작품. 1,2편과 달리 선형적이지 않은 전개가 장점이자 단점인데, 처음 플레이하면 등대 하나 조절하려고 맵 끝에서 끝까지 이동하느라 지루하고 짜증날 수 있지만 몇번 하다보면 다 건너뛰고 지나갈 수 있을 만큼 익숙해지니 처음에만 느낄 수 있는 엉성함을 즐겨두는 게 좋다. 과거/현재로 맵이 총 두 개여서 원하는 이벤트를 보려면 번거롭기도 하지만 그만큼 다회차 플레이 시에 볼거리가 많고, 이벤트 장소들 외에 평범한 이동구간에서 나오는 플레이버 텍스트도 종류가 다양하다. 참고로 캐릭터의 성별에 따라 전개가 달라지는 이벤트도 있다! 어느정도 익숙해졌다 싶으면 NBAS(No beacon all serpent) 런도 해보길. 4편 전개와 엔딩에 변화가 생긴다.
