VHS // Anima 021 is a retro-style horror video game inspired by the “found footage” genre.

Travel through levels in search of anomalies with the goal of capturing them on camera. But you’re not alone in this liminal space. There are other erratic, watchful beings that will try to stalk and hunt you down. You’ll need to switch between map view and first-person view, deciding when to record and when to take risks. Each completed tape reveals fragments of a mysterious story.

This video game aims to combine horror with a retro aesthetic, exploration of liminal spaces, and resource management into an intense and frenetic experience.

• Your objective in each level will be to find the anomalies/glitches scattered throughout the environment. Once you find them, use “camera view” mode to capture orbs around each anomaly and restore it to a stable state. Once all anomalies are resolved, you can interact with the main TV to play a short minigame where you’ll review your gameplay recording to find the moments when you captured an anomaly. And remember, you can rewind the tape to return to a past moment.
