Betrayal at Krondor 소설을 기반으로 한 짜임새 있고 탄탄한 스토리 이국적인 정취를 뿜어내는 매력적인 세계관과 부속물들 시대를 앞서간 진보된 캐릭터 스테이터스와 전투 시스템 귀를 즐겁게 해주는 수십 곡이 넘는 훌륭한 BGM 직관적이며 현실적인 UI까지 정말 무엇 하나 버릴 게 없는 걸작 RPG 주시자의 눈을 입문작으로 시작하여 많은 RPG를 거쳐 최근에는 위쳐3까지 즐겨봤지만 그 어떤 게임보다 마음속 베스트로 남아있는 작품. 2편이 나오기를 학수고대 했지만 라이센스 문제로 제대로 된 후속작이 나오지 못한 점은 아직까지도 아쉬움이 남는다. 덕분에 배신자 컬렉션에 동봉된 후속작 Betrayal in Antara는 원작과는 아무런 관계가 없는 게임이 됐으며 Return to Krondor라는 계승작이 다른 루트를 통해 따로 발매됐음에도 불구하고 원작의 완성도에 비해서는 압도적으로 부족한 게 사실이다. 국내에는 1993년 동서게임채널을 통해서 플로피 버전이 발매됐었는데 패키지 안에 무려 야광 요요!!가 선물로 들어있었다. 당시 패키지 구매를 해서 요요를 획득하기는 했지만 왜 거기다 요요를 넣어놨는지, 누구의 머리에서 이런 뜬금없는 기획이 나왔는지는 영원히 풀리지 않을 미스테리이다. 스팀, GOG의 배신자 컬렉션은 트랙을 ogg로 변환시킨 CD버전을 제공하고 있는데 옵션에서 CD MUSIC을 선택하면 음악이 루프 되지 않고 효과음이 제대로 나오지 않는 치명적인 단점이 있으므로 가급적이면 CD MUSIC을 언체크 하고 플레이 하는 게 좋다. 원작 게임의 디자이너였던 닐 할포드가 리마스터 작업을 하겠다고 했는데 제대로 발매될지는 미지수. 더불어 이 양반이 저술한 검과 회로(Swords & Circuitry)라는 RPG 기획 가이드북도 추천한다.
