다큐멘터리의 게임화를 이렇게도... // 10점 만점에 7.5점 사실 저는 이 게임을 세일주간에 병맛겜 싹쓸이(아마 그 장바구니에 Cruelty Squad랑 Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator같은거 들어가있었을거에요)하면서 동시에 구매했고, 저 어처구니없는 배너를 보고 비슷하게 얼척없는 작품이리라 생각하며 구매를 하였답니다. 여기에 스팀겜 구매비덕질 매니아답게 한달 넘게 묵혀두다가 갑자기 플레이를 해 보고 싶어서 실행을 해 보았는데...제가 예상했던 거랑 매우 다른 물건이 나오더라구요. 가장 큰 특징이...요약본에 '다큐멘터리'라고 적은 게 과장이 아니라는 점일까요. 게임 자체는 기믹이 단순한 3D 플랫포머 게임이라고 축약할 수 있는 편한 부류이지만, 이를 구성하는 배경과 구조가 다른 어디에서도 감히 시도하지 않을 현장감이 되어 빛을 발합니다. 대체 어느 게임에서 '은퇴한 첩보요원이 매년 참여하는 예비군 전투훈련 체력행사에 딸래미가 참여한다'는 플롯을 쓸까요, 그리고 누가 그 와중에 '진공 카드와 용어집을 활용한 수수께끼'를 퍼즐 요소로 사용할까요...그 있잖아요, 특수전대 출신 예비군 아저씨가 푸는 썰은 되려 어떤 가상의 블록버스터 전쟁 영화보다도 더 감명깊기도 하지요? 이 게임도 그런 감각으로 냉전 시대 첩보전의 편린을 맛볼 수 있는 아주 좋은 기회였답니다. 시각적으로는 조금 너무 열심히 튀려고 튀는? 그런 느낌을 받았네요. 특이하긴 하죠 ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ....저는 오히려 오디오가 진정으로 독특했다고 생각해요. 거의 날것에 가까운 대화 녹음본들을 나열하면서, 보통의 극적 기승전결에서 보여야 할 연기력을 전부 현실 어느 어르신들의 걸걸한 대화로 치환한 것이 정말 인상적이었달까요. 중간중간 나오는 부모님의 인터뷰 영상도 그렇고, 앞에서도 언급했지만 실제 답사의 결과물로서 그 어떤 트리플 A 스튜디오도 재현하기 힘든 현장감을 불러일으켰다고 생각해요. 쉽게 즐기기 힘든 장르 국적 시나리오이지만, 이런 게임들이 더욱 많아져야 한다고 생각해요. 특히 다큐멘터리가 이런 느낌으로 대중 친화적인 동시에 의미를 잃지 않는 형식으로 보급된다면 정말 좋겠다고 생각이 드네요.
