Into the Fray is a sequel to Usurper and Shrouded in Sanity, as it is part of the Skautfold series. However, knowledge of the previous games is not necessary to enjoy the game.
Into the Fray is an oblique top-down action shooter.
The focus is on fast, bloody combat with satisfying feedback and environmental reactivity; all under the heavy presence of a dark Lovecraftian story of civil strife.
The tools of your trade will include an arsenal of devastating top-of-the-line firearms; from hand-cannons, to triple-barrel shotguns, as well as prototype weaponry from the great Nikola himself. These weapons will be your best friends and only hope of survival if you want to put an end to both the bloodthirsty rebels, and eldritch abominations alike.
To aid your enjoyment of the carnage that will unfold, gore and environmental reactivity are top priority; break just about anything, kick around barrels of oil and then set them on fire as traps, or just straight up give the boot to your enemies and watch them trigger traps. Why open a door when you can break it down?! Persistent gore and debris will help immerse you in the world as you rip, tear and explode your way to victory.

Story
The story is set in 1899, based on an alternate history of the island of Portland, off the south coast of England. You take control of Hito, one of the Knights of the Empire, and head to the Island to investigate reports of a missing royal, and the presence of a rebellious faction called the Sons of Washington. Soon, the Fog descends, leaving you and the islanders to fend off the would-be rebels who have made a pact with entities from the Cosmos.Gameplay
Into the Fray is framed around an overview map of the island; where you can pick from a range of missions to undertake as the story progresses. These missions will have you visit the streets of the island, dank cave systems, and even secret underground tunnel networks. Skautfold 시리즈의 세번째 게임인 Into the Fray 입니다. 1편은 탑뷰 탐색 액션 게임이였고, 2편은 매트로배니아에 액션 같은걸 끼얹어보았고, 3편은 1편과 비슷하지만 2년전과 다르게 많이 발전했다 생각합니다. 제작자가 여러모로 열정 넘치는지라 매번 다른 시도를 해서 마지막엔 무슨 장르로 바뀔지 참 궁금합니다. 아무튼. 이 게임은 영국의 대체 역사 스토리를 중심으로 진행되는데... 2년 사이 1편에서 발생한 berelaii 영지 안개 사건, 2편에서 발생한 런던 시타델 사건 등으로 인해 지지 기반이 많이 약해진 상태라 그 이름도 찬란하신 브리타니아의 천사 제국의 기사단 중 하나인 히토가 여왕 엘레노어에게 칙명을 받고 본토에서 세력을 키운 독립 단체인 '워싱턴의 아들들'과 과거 포틀랜드 섬에서 일어났던 안개 사건이 엮여있단 내용을 듣고 포틀랜드 섬을 향해 조사를 떠나며 게임이 시작됩니다. 미국에 위치한 밸브에서 미국을 깔쌈하게 식민지로 삼는 영국의 대체 역사 게임을 유통하는걸 보면 참 그렇긴 합니다만. 트럼프 게임들도 신나게 나오는 마당에. 아무튼. 대략 한달 이상의 얼리 액세스가 진행 될 예정이므로 현재는 미완성인 게임이라 살거면 얼리 끝난 이후 구매하는걸 권장합니다. 솔직히 말해서 앵간치 힙스터가 아닌 이상 이런 게임을 찾아올 일은 없을거라 생각합니다만. 개인적으로 이런 열정적인 제작자를 좋게 생각하고, '나쁜' 게임은 아닌지라 추천합니다.
