Misaki, a boy in the astronomy club, always made a point of keeping his distance, trying not to get too involved with other people.
To him, nothing was "permanent." Believing that everything—his surroundings, relationships, even his own family—was just a temporary connection, he avoided getting too involved with others. Over time, he found himself unable to truly face their feelings.

Then, in the spring of his second year of high school, Misaki meets Himekawa, a transfer student who is blind.
Misaki tries to keep his distance from her, just as he always does. But then, believe it or not, she confesses that she can understand people's emotions just from the tone of their voice!
At first, true to form, Misaki doesn't try to get deeply involved. However, as he unexpectedly starts interacting more with the transfer student in the seat next to him, his everyday life begins to change, bit by bit...
And beyond these changes, what will he eventually come to see...?
