The game begins as the player character drives his car through the night, on a forest road. After a long and exhausting journey, he thinks he's finally near his destination until the car gives up on him. He understands something's wrong when he notices the two moons in the sky, and hears a strange message on the radio, about a "disturbance" on the road. Things get even more confusing when a massive boar-man cop arrives, arrests him and takes him away in his car.

He is then brought to Blackgate, a little town populated by all kinds of monsters, where he learns he somehow arrived in a place located on the crossroads of multiple worlds, such as Earth. He doesn't know how he got here, nor does he know how to get away. But he now has to live here, and pick a job to work, as the only human in the town.
