Reaki Kariyata is the Princess of Akeens, a special race, in Western Yardrill. However, she holds many secrets such as not actually being born a royal member to the Kariyata Family and being the key to preventing a secret war devised by both sides.

We see Reaki face the many hardships of what it means to come from a different race. She takes on the name Harim to defer suspicion from her fellow classmates when she enrolls as the Akeen Representative for her people to strengthen relationships. The only ones who know her real identity are the Principal and herself, but even he is in the dark about who she really is.

Reaki is in search of two special weapons that she holds dear to her heart.

In time, she makes many friends. She manages to make connections she didn't think she'd be able to have. However, the war is approaching. She grows scared with plaguing nightmares of her past.
