The story follows a secret service agent Callisto di Moretti, who was sent to the capital in order to uncover a plot, planned by enemies of the current order. Callisto will have to oppose mighty enemies, as well as his own internal conflicts that have been tearing him apart for a few years prior to the events of the novel.
